The acetate celluloid comes in square sheets (same concept as leather) they are cut and curved by hand using dies and sometime heat. The French machine-made tortoiseshell basically it is a good quality plastic better then China one. Sometime painted by hand and the seller refer to it as hand made but in fact it is not.
