Something About Eve: A Comedy of Fig-Leaves, (Paperback)

"Something About Eve: A Comedy of Fig-Leaves" is a sophisticated and satirical fantasy novel that explores the complexities of human desire and the ironies of romantic pursuit. Set within the imaginative framework of the author's broader literary cycle, the story follows the adventures of Gerald Musgrave, a gentleman from Virginia who swaps places with a supernatural double to embark on a metaphysical quest toward the mythical land of Antan.

Along his journey, Musgrave encounters a series of allegorical figures and mythological women, each representing different facets of temptation, domesticity, and the elusive nature of happiness. Written with characteristic wit and lyrical prose, the work serves as a playful yet biting commentary on the masks people wear and the 'fig-leaves' of propriety that conceal their true motivations. As Musgrave navigates various realms-encountering everything from sirens to sorceresses-the narrative delves into themes of disillusionment and the eternal struggle between idealistic dreams and earthly realities.

"Something About Eve" stands as a notable example of early twentieth-century literary fantasy, blending mythological elements with a skeptical, modern sensibility. It remains a compelling work for readers interested in high-style satire and the philosophical underpinnings of the human condition.

This work has been selected by scholars as being culturally important, and is part of the knowledge base of civilization as we know it.
